The Ulucanlar Prison Museum Ankara

The Ulucanlar Prison Museum was built in 1925. The Republic has witnessed many dark incidents of our time. This prison, where politicians and artists in our country were convicted, started to host its visitors as a museum in 2011. During your visit to the museum you can see the wax statues of many important prisoners. Private items and some photos are also displayed in the museum. In Ulucanlar Prison Museum, the most prominent place is undoubtedly the courtyard. There is a gallows in the courtyard called the great poplar. The names like Deniz Gezmiş have been executed in this tree. Another place outside the courtyard is the bath where the prisoners meet their needs. The museum is open on Mondays and other days. If you want to visit, please choose between 10:00 - 17:00 hours. The museum is open to visit during these hours.
