TEMENNİ HILL AND MONUMENTS

Temenni Hill and Tombs are located in Ürgüp, 22 km from Nevşehir. Due to its elevation, it is possible to see Urgup, which is almost windy every day of the year, and Mount Erciyes in the days when the weather is open.

The most interesting feature of the Temenni Mausoleum located at the top of Kadi Castle is the 700 m long tunnel. There is a carved tunnel of about 80-100 m. The hill, which is called çağ Temenni yana because of the connection of chalks and wishes, is accepted as a sacred place since ancient times. Many of the tombs on the hill, the people of this sacred hill was almost an indication of the race to be buried.

In 1288, there were two important tombs from the Ottoman period at Temenni Hill, a mausoleum built by Vecihi Pasha for Kılıçaslan. These 13th century in the Seljuk sultans known to be killed in Urgup 4. Kılıçaslan and 3. Alâeddin Keykubat was symbolically named after the Ottoman period.

The tomb in the middle of Temenni Hill was previously used as Ürgüp Tahsinağa Public Library. This library is also considered to be one of the oldest libraries in Anatolia. On the south-west side of the Temenni Hill in the form of a terrace, the Church of Saint Yeorgios is located.

Temenni Hill and Monumental Tombs are located in Urgup, which is 22 km away from Nevsehir. Nevsehir Cappadocia Airport is 25 kilometers from the center. There are alternatives to get to the airport from the airport such as airport shuttle services, taxi or car rental. After arriving in Nevsehir city center, transportation to Urgup is very easy. You can be in the center of Ürgüp district in about 20 minutes by minibuses. You can take a breath in the tea garden in the hill of tea.
