MILLION MUSEUM

The museum building, which was opened in 1973, had a static structure over time. This situation has been closed to visit due to the danger of life and property safety. The works for the construction of the New Museum Building have been initiated and the new museum building with 1200 square meters of usage area has been opened to visitors in May 2011.

Milet Museum exhibition areas; It consists of two main sections: garden display and indoor display. In the garden display, lion statues, inscriptions, grave steles, sarcophagi, architectural elements and column capitals are displayed. Indoor exhibition area The museum is located within the administrative building. The ruins of the Ancient City of Miletus, the Ancient City of Priene and the Temple of Apollo in Didim are exhibited. Belonging to the ancient city of Milet; Animation During the Minos Period (20-15th century BC), the finds from the Minoan Period, the finds from the Archaic Afrodite Zeytintepe, and the Gacartepe Grave are found. Sacred road findings from the Ancient City of Miletus to the Temple of Apollo Apollon and votive items of the Temple of Apollo are located in the exhibition hall.

The ancient city of Priene, which is known as the Pompeii of Anatolia, is found in the Priene section. Coins, ornaments, glass fragrance bottles, bronze items and figurines, terra cotta items and figurines of Ilıas Bey Mosque which were dated to Menteseoğulları Principality were presented to the visitors in the exhibitions. In addition, the grave steles and unfinished sculpture group belonging to the Archaic period are in the exhibition space. Milet Museum is a technical, visual and scientific example museum.
