Merzifon Kara Mustafa Pasha Mosque - Amasya

Merzifon Kara Mustafa Pasha Mosque - Amasya

It was built in 1666 by Kara Mustafa Pasha. The outer walls of the rectangular mosque are entirely built of smooth cut stone. There is a last congregation with three eyes and four ceilings connected by pointed arches. The place of worship is covered with a large dome. The corner cavities of the octagonal pulley of the dome, which is decorated with pencil works of the 19th century, are supported by octagonal weight towers and an aesthetic integrity is provided. The mosque is illuminated with two small windows on each side of the dome pulley and six windows on the body walls, three on the bottom and three on the top. One of the most remarkable aspects of the mosque is the fountain in the courtyard. The fountain, thought to have been built in the 19th century, is basically made of wood. The pointed copper cone carries eight wooden columns.

The main feature of the fountain is ornaments on the ceiling. It is understood from the date and name that Zileli Emin made these decorations in 1875 and fell among the decorations. It is believed that three places were depicted in the decorations. The first is Istanbul. When the painting is examined carefully, Galata and Bayezid Towers, Golden Horn and Galata Bridge, Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia and Süleymaniye Mosques and Çemberlitaş can be selected. The second stage is likened to Amasya. The castle, the water mills in the river and the structures similar to the Bayezit Mosque can be seen. The third scene is thought to depict the Ottoman army in front of the city of Vienna. According to the understanding of time, there are tents next to exploding guns and guns on the scene where people are not pictured. The entrance of the mosque courtyard on the Taşhan side is also worth seeing. The arch of the deep arched entrance with a small chamber is built of colored stones. There are two old plane trees in the courtyard with a diameter of approximately 3 meters.
