Lake Bafa - Muğla

Lake Bafa - Muğla

Soke plain was the sea about 2000 years ago, where there was a large bay. The alluviums brought by the Great Menderes River widowed the bay and turned it into a plain. Today's Lake Bafa is a part of the sea. There are two islands on the lake. One of the twin islands is actually connected to the land by a dune, not a full island. Mullet, perch and eel are kept in Lake Bafa. If you want to visit the lake, you can take the minibus. This way you can visit the archipelago and the ancient city of Heraklia. Monasteries and churches were established on the islands in the lake. The "Seven Monastery" is the oldest. The lake is surrounded by olive groves. For this reason, all the meals in the restaurants around the lake are made with olive oil.
