KUŞADASI

Kusadasi, one of Turkey's first tourism center, the town of Aydin in the Aegean Sea. The district, which has been growing in a short time with the tourism mobility that started in the 1960s, has one of the first ports that comes to mind when it comes to cruise tourism in our country.

Dilek peninsula and Büyük Menderes Delta National Park, blue flag beaches, vibrant nightlife, historical and touristic points carrying the traces of different civilizations and hundreds of accommodation facilities, Kuşadası has an important place for those who want to have a holiday on the Aegean coast.

It is estimated that Kuşadası, which is not known at the time, was established by the Ions as a settlement connected to Ephesus under the name of Neopolis. The city, which was first located in Andizkulesi at the foothills of Pilavtepe, was named Scala Nuova at the present site due to transportation difficulties. Throughout history, Leleges, Aiols, Ions, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans entered the sovereignty of Kusadasi, the Ionian period showed great progress with the wealth of sea trade. The city, which was one of the most important ports of Anatolia to the Mediterranean in ancient times, was used by pirates in the Middle Ages. Many of the architectural structures built in the district center along with Ottoman sovereignty are still standing. Italy during the War of Independence in 1919-1921; Kuşadası, which was under the occupation of Greece after the withdrawal of Italy, escaped enemy occupation on September 7, 1922.
