Tomb of the Kyrgyz - Bursa

Tomb of the Kyrgyz - Bursa

It is unclear when or for whom the tomb was built. However, it is thought that it was a structure before the Ottoman conquests of Iznik. There are seven large and one child sarcophagus in it. The tomb consists of two rooms of approximately equal size and square plan in the north-south direction. The door connects these two spaces to each other in the middle of the common wall. The southern space is covered with a dome. Some of the sections were built by Byzantine period. There are pencil decorations on the sides of the upper windows of the domed space and on the dome. The original parts of the iwan part, which was handled several times and exhibited various wall styles, were built with three rows of rough-carved stones.
