Kahramanmaras Castle
Located in the very center of the city, the castle is located on a high point on the south side and a slightly sloping hill on the north side. Many historical monuments from the Late Hittite period have been found in the studies and Maras Lion, which was mentioned by Evliya Çelebi at the gate of the castle in the 17th century, is one of these works. Late Hittite timely made Kahramanmaras Castle, then the region's prevailing Assyrians, Medes, Persians, Kingdom of Cappadocia, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, has arrived in the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey period until today, various repairs and making additions. The outer walls of the square bushing are cut stone and the inner walls are rubble. It has a rectangular plan and an average of 1,70 m. thick walls.
