ISTANBUL ARCHEOLOGY MUSEUMS

Founded by Osman Hamdi Bey as the Bey Museum-i Humayun apı, the Imperial Museum and opened to visitors on 13 June 1891, Istanbul Archaeological Museums are located on the hill of Osman Hamdi Bey from Gülhane Park to Topkapı Palace in the Sultanahmet district of Istanbul. . The reason why the name is used as plural is that there are three different museums under the direction of the Museum of Archeology, Old Oriental Works Museum and Tiled Kiosk Museum. The building, which was used today as the Museum of Ancient Oriental Works, was founded in 1883 by Osman Hamdi Bey as the Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi. The Tiled Pavilion, dated 1472, is the hunting lodge of Fatih Sultan Mehmet and is one of the oldest civilian architects of Istanbul.

During all the Empire and the Republic from various areas, close to a million, artefacts and Turkey's first museum, the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, designed as a museum building in the world and used it among the top ten museums.

The museum collections, in addition to the works obtained during the salvage excavations carried out in recent years due to the important transportation projects such as Marmaray and Metro, as well as the number of artifacts entered through purchasing, donation and hard purchasing, are increasing. The Museum Collections have a wide range of geological, chronological and thematic arrangements. The museum has historical and natural features with its architectural features and garden as well as its stunning collections.
