INSPIRED CAVES

Located 13 km southeast of Burdur and within the boundaries of Çatalağıl village of Burdur, the İnsuyu cave can be reached through the 900-meter asphalt road, which is located at the 13th km of the Burdur-Antalya highway. The İnsuyu cave, located in the northeast of the Western Taurus Mountains, is one of our caves showing a horizontally extending source location and semi-active multi-period development. İnsuyu cave which is covered with dense stalactite formations (stalactites, stalagmites, columns, walls and curtain dripstones, calcite crystals) and lakes in 1965 was opened to public visits and won the first cave title opened to tourism in our country. The cave is composed of two interconnected parts and has a total length of 525 meters and a first section with a protruding lattice structure extending parallel to the main fault. The second part discovered as a result of the descent of the groundwater is tougher than the first part in terms of dripstone formation although it is longer than the first section. It is extremely difficult to visit, and can be visited by groups of caves traveling for sporting and adventure purposes and with special caving equipment.
