It was the first point of the Great Leader Atatürk to set foot on Samsun on 19 May 1919 to burn the torch of the National Struggle. The road which extends from the Tobacco Pier, where Atatürk and his 18 friends set foot in Samsun, to the Mıntıka Palas Hotel was turned into the den Kurtuluş Yolu uzanan by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and opened for use on 19 May 2009. The Road to the Scaffold, where Atatürk was landed, was rebuilt and the Protocol Road, which was built in front of the Bandırma Ferry, was 45 meters wide and 400 meters long. On the way there are ornamental pools representing Atatürk and his 18 friends and ceramic reliefs on the left side.
