Historic Van Houses - Van
The construction dates of the traditional Van houses, which contain the characteristics of the traditional Turkish house, date back to the 1915 Armenian rebellion and after the Great Van Fire. Stone, mudbrick and wooden materials were used in the construction of the traditional Van house, one of the important heirs of the Van city fabric. The mudbrick walls were built on the stone foundation. The roofs of Van houses, which are covered with flat roofs supported by wooden beams, have been added later. As plan type, they are mostly arranged in plan type with inner hall and they are built as single storey or double storey. Van differentiated from other cities in the region in terms of residential architecture, construction techniques and material usage. It is seen that instead of the stone which is preferred as the basic building material in the region, kerpin is used in traditional Van houses.

Historic Van Houses District, Kalecik neighborhood, which is about 5 kilometers away from the city center, was established in an area that can see the whole city with the view of an eagle's nest at a height of 830 meters. Approximately 250 meters higher than the city of Van, the best view of the sun set in the Van Sea is waiting for visitors as a viewing terrace area.
