Hatuniye Mosque and Complex - Manisa
The complex was built in 1488 by Hüsnüşah Sultan, the wife of Beyazid II; mosque, madrasah, imarethane and consists of primary school. Hatuniye Mosque is a simple mosque with a single minaret and a rectangular plan. The main space is covered with a large dome sitting on an octagonal pulley and a small dome on two sides. The last congregation was covered with five small domes on six columns. Its minaret is decorated with zigzag breaks. The pulpit, which was built with the technique of liar kündekari, is one of the best examples of Turkish decorative arts. The primary school in the western part of the mosque has a rectangular plan and was built with brick beams and coarse stone masonry technique. The madrasah and imarethane sections of the complex, like many other works, did not survive as they were destroyed during the War of Independence.
