Great Mosque - Kahramanmaras
According to the foundations, the Ulu Mosque was built between 1442 and 1454 by Süleyman Bey, the ruler of the Dulkadiroğlu Principality. It was later repaired by Süleyman Bey's son Alaüddevle in 1501. The Great Mosque witnessed important events in the history of the city. Mosques with wooden ceilings belong to the group. Externally 22x40.90 m. with the harim in dimensions, 5.30x40.90 m. size of the last congregation and minaret with a single balcony. Coarse and rubble stones were used on the facade walls with wooden beams. The mosque bears the characteristics of the principalities period and early Anatolian Seljuk architecture.
