First Human Footprints - Manisa
19 First Human Footprints ine which was rarely seen by MTA in 1969 within the borders of Sindel Village of Salihli district of Manisa on the banks of Gediz River was unearthed. Footprints are located in the tuffs of a Kula-centered volcano. The traces left are 5-100 m. height is covered with basalt slag. The first Human Footprints were dated by the thermoluminescence (heat induced radiation) method (with a margin of error of 5,000 years) and were found to date back 26,000 years. 50 of these traces are still exhibited in MTA Museum of Natural History. One example is in the Manisa Museum. The anthropological find on the Gediz coast attracted the attention of scientists.
