Burgaç Hatun (Bibi Hatun) Tomb - Tokat

Burgaç Hatun (Bibi Hatun) Tomb - Tokat
The tomb located in the southeast corner of the courtyard of Ali Pasha Mosque is known by the names of Bulgaç Hatun or Burgaç Hatun as well as Bibi Hatun and Dudu Hatun. The building, which does not have an inscription, is dated to the 13th century by some researchers according to its architectural and ornamental features, and to the 14th century by some researchers using stone-brick alternating construction techniques.

The tomb with a hexagonal body is covered with a pendant passage dome. There is a gate to the north of the tomb. However, since the structure remains below the soil level, it can be accessed through the window on the northern façade. There is a window in the deaf arches on each facade of the structure which shows a graded façade arrangement with triangular pediment surfaces. The structure is regarded as the only example in Anatolia with its triangular pediment arrangement.

The entire mausoleum was constructed in an alternate technique using coarse stones and bricks. Pendants, arches and triangular pediments are made of bricks. There are ornamental pottery as decoration elements in the upper and lower parts of the arches on the facades (Tokat Center and Districts Immovable Cultural and Natural Assets 2010)
