Bingöl Zağ Cave

Bingöl Zağ Cave

Zag Cave is located on a steep rock between Gökçeli and Yenidal villages. The side facing the Murat River was 200-300 meters above the ground and was carved out of the rocks.

The cave was built on three floors. There are 26 rooms on each floor. The transition between floors is provided by round chimneys, and room-to-room transitions are provided by doors. On the first floor there are wells that are thought to have been used as a Zahire reservoir, downstairs living rooms, and two haremlik rooms on the top floor. Although the cave was damaged over time, 17 rooms are still preserved.
