Our museum was first established in 1925 as a museum warehouse with the gathering of a small number of archaeological artifacts collected in two rooms of the madrasa building of the Sultan II.Beyazid Complex and bringing together Islamic Islamic mummies.

Then, in 1962, as a result of the proliferation of works and the need for new places to be exhibited, the monumental works of the Seljuk Period were transferred to the Gökmedrese Mosque.

The museum, which was managed by honorary office until 1958, has been transformed into the museum directorate since June of the same year.
