The town of Alaçam, which started at the end of Bafra in the direction of Samsun Sinop, is 78 km away from Samsun. Alaçam, with a population of approximately 26,000, is a coastal town dominated by the typical Black Sea climate. History of Alaçam dates back to 5500 BC (Middle Bronze Age). The first known name "Zelikus" was given to the district by the Milesians, and during the Ilkhans, the district was named Alaçam in 1385.
